Summary of Position

Manage all operational aspects for sourcing activities of shea nuts, warehousing, production of butter, export of shea nuts and or butter.This position is based in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso and will require travelling in the region.

General duties

  • Manages LC staff at our different warehousing sites and at crushing partners
  • Manages receiving of nut trucks and storage of nuts, responsible for correct procedures on countable stocks, correct documentation, re-bagging, sampling, traceability etc.
  • Keeps all procedures up to date and looks continuously for improvements in the operations, to make the operation better controlled, more efficient, and more cost effective
  • Responsible for correct weighing of trucks of nuts and butter, and keeping all weighbridges calibrated, certified and benchmarked
  • Fully manages FOB activities for export of butter and aware of new regulations on raw butter export
  • Fully manages imports of flexitanks into Burkina Faso
  • Responsible for timely stock takes at warehousing sites and other locations in the West African Supply Chain.
  • Identifies quality gaps and takes prompt corrective actions independently
  • Ability to fully and independently operate shipment
  • Negotiates various logistical costs independently and proposes rates via benchmarking to senior management
  • Assists in driving the QA/QC-audit follow up and improvements at production sites
  • Responsible for all logistics between warehousing, loading and unloading of shipments and coordinate transport in between our partners
  • Manage administrative tasks related to the supply chain: nuts receiving, butter processing, butter export and other
  • Manages ISO tank and flexi tank loading, oversees operational inspections and audits of materials used (LC owned and 3rd party owned)
  • Ownership of seals management and administration and procedural compliance

 

Management responsibilities

  • Management of a team of eight(8) logistics assistants and a logistics assistant supervisor
  • Responsible for the development of operational staff, training, feedback and administering corrective action
  • Looks proactively for supply chain improvements: notably quality improvements and cost savings
  • Responsible for maintaining, improving and updating of field reporting
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems with third parties and within his team
  • Supports the Back Office based in Ghana
  • Serves in the Burkina Faso Local Crisis Unit (LCU) in times of crisis and is responsible for Logistics
  • Responsible for perfect follow up of Standard Operating Procedures, ensures the field and theory remain perfectly aligned
  • Independently ensures 3rd party cleanliness of premises and manufacturing environment, following standards and procedures and timely communicates violations and non-compliance to Management.

 

Other duties

  • Performs any other responsibilities that will be assigned from time to time, needs to be able to serve as a backup for the office manager in Bobo-Dioulasso when on leave.

 

Departmental Relations

  • Maintains relations with Quality, Safety, Health and Environment (QSHE) dept. on quality and safety issues and the back office in Ghana

 

External relations

  • Maintain relations with Crushing partners, logistics providers, forwarding agents, suppliers logistics staff, warehousing partners and other minor parties
  • Develop and maintain an intelligence network for information (market survey) on the competitive landscape, market developments, legislative changes a/o
  • Develop understanding of the shea industry / supply chain, understand the field (women producers, system of traders), crop survey (estimation)

 

Responsibility for company assets

  • Has responsibility for the maintenance and effective use of office and other working tools

 

COMPETENCIES

  • Educational qualification
  1. Minimum BSc degree in supply chain/Logistics or any related field
  • Previous experience
  1. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in supply chain or logistics
  2. At least a proven track record of 3 years’ experience in a coordinating role for quality control or surveying
  3. Experience in vegetable oils fats industry is considered a plus, as are commodity driven work environments
  • Technical skills
  1. Strong on reporting and Excel (MS Office in general)
  2. Knowledge of SAP is considered a plus
  3. Fluent in French and English
  • Personality
